This holiday season, sit back, relax, and get yourself in a holly-jolly mood, with these Christmas films – sure to make you HO, HO, HO. Specially curated for you by our in-office Apéro Christmas Movie Enthusiast (official title), Jasmin.

There’s a love story for everyone in this Christmas classic. A Prime Minister who falls for his secretary, an average guy who falls for his best friends’ wife, a struggling writer who can’t help but fall in love with his maid (despite a language barrier). And all stories are connected in some way or another. Super cheesy but sure to make you laugh! And guaranteed to show you that love is all you need.

My personal favourite romantic movie for Christmas! Nicholas Cage plays a fast-lane investment broker living the sweet life in New York City, when all of a sudden, his life is turned upside down. He gets to see how his life would have turned out if he stayed with the love of his life all those years ago. Oh, it’s so beautiful.
ELF (2003)

Who doesn’t want to watch a movie about a man raised as an elf at the North Pole, who discovers he is actually just a man, and must venture into the real world? Especially when this elf-man is played by Will Ferrell! You’re in for some classic Will Ferrell humour, as well as a heart-warming story, and some wonderful Christmas spirit!

Two women from different countries decide to swap homes to escape their guy problems. But of course, even when you try to escape your guy problems, a new guy comes into the picture right? The Holiday is a fun, light hearted rom com that you can easily sit back, relax and enjoy. And for us in Australia, it’s nice to daydream about that perfect white Christmas.

While the Grinch played by good ol’ Jim Carrey is a classic, this year you should try out the animated re-make, featuring the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch as the Grinch. It’s bright, it’s fun, it’s adorable. Same story, but with sweet colourful visuals you can only get from animation. This is a good one to enjoy with younger siblings, but hey, I’m 23 and will happily watch it just by myself!

This would have to be one of the most heart-warming, animated Christmas films out there. When Santa’s new system for delivering presents misses one child, his clumsy son Arthur sets out on a mission with Grandsanta to make sure no child is missed on Christmas. I definitely watch this one every Christmas. Gives me that nice, warm fuzzy feeling.
