HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT APERITIF SPREAD
As some Australian states come out of iso and re-enter the social world, what better way to celebrate than put on a spread for our nearest and dearest. Here at Apéro, we have pulled our tips and tricks to create the perfect spread for your friends and family whether that's via a zoom party or at a picnic in the park.
VARIETY OF APPETISERS
Present a variety of appetisers to ensure there is something for everyone. Our suggestions include a cob loaf, cheese board, selection of hot food such as tarts, quiches and pastries, and a few sweeter options such as brownies or a slice. You could also include a fruit platter, sandwiches, or salads for a healthier, more substantial option. We can guarantee that your guests will leave satisfied.
Whether you're a wine, champagne, cocktail, or mocktail drinker, choose a drink that your friends and family will love. Here at Apéro we love a refreshing spritz, especially an Aperol Spritz
. For a fun, fresh spin on this classic aperitif, try the following recipe for a Rosé-Aperol Spritz. Whisk 3/4 cup of chilled passionfruit juice, 1/4 cup of Aperol, 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice and 4 teaspoons of sugar in a large pitcher until the sugar has dissolved. Stir in the rosé, before serving in large ice-filled wine glasses and garnish with a grapefruit wedge. This recipe serves 4-6 guests so adjust, as necessary.
Adding flowers to your spread will lighten up the room and create a bright, fresh atmosphere. Our choice of flowers includes baby breath, dried flower arrangements, peonies, sweet peas, or anthuriums (although all flowers are beautiful!). If you don't have enough vases for the flowers, you can re-use jars or head to your local op shop for gorgeous, antique glassware.
CURATE THE PERFECT PLAYLIST
Music is so important to set the mood and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Spend some time browsing through Spotify to either curate your own playlist or choose from a playlist that has already been created. A few artists we're loving at the moment include Tom Misch (a regular repeat in the office), Bruno Major, Glass Animals' latest album Dreamland (perfect for a vibrant mood), Joan, HONNE, The Band Camino, and COIN.
Enjoy your spread! The event and lead up should be fun. Create a list of what needs to be done prior so you can stress less on the day. If you love being in the kitchen then have fun experimenting with appetisers. Lastly, throw on your favourite Apéro beaded or embroidered tee for a stylish, yet comfortable get up.
